A \u003cstrong\u003eSlip-On Line\u003c\/strong\u003e muffler replaces the end can and, on some fitments, the link pipe behind it; the standard header and catalytic converter stay in place, which makes it the smaller and more reversible of the three changes. \u003cstrong\u003eEvolution Line\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eRacing Line\u003c\/strong\u003e are both complete systems, replacing the run from the header back, and both come out of Akrapovic's factory racing programme rather than a general accessories catalogue that happens to sell exhausts too. Titanium, carbon fibre and stainless steel account for most of what's actually on the shelf — in the products we checked, 134 name titanium, 98 name carbon fibre and 60 name stainless steel in the title alone, and carbon fibre shows up mostly as the end cap and heat shield on an otherwise titanium or stainless system. Akrapovic use titanium because it is lighter than stainless steel for a comparable job and holds up better at high temperature; stainless steel earns its place where corrosion resistance matters more than shaving weight.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe company was founded in 1991 by Igor Akrapovič, a racer before he was a manufacturer: more than 200 world championship titles since, a first WorldSBK race win in 1997, a first WorldSBK title in 2000, a first MotoGP title in 2012. None of that says whether a specific exhaust here is road legal for your bike — that's the next question — but it is why the Racing Line name describes where the parts come from, not a marketing word for \"louder.\"\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch2\u003eIs it road legal?\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAkrapovic mark road-legal status on the individual product, not on the brand as a whole, and they say so in their own paperwork: their emission notice states plainly that neither Akrapovic nor its subsidiaries make any representation that a product complies with the air or noise emissions law of any market, and that the purchaser is \"entirely responsible\" for checking the law that applies where the bike is used. Where a product does meet a recognised standard they mark it — an ECE, EC or EPA badge on the product page, with a downloadable type-approval certificate. Where it does not, they say so outright: on Akrapovic's own site, a full titanium Evolution Line system for a BMW carries no compliance badge and states, in capitals, that it does not meet emission compliance requirements for street or highway use. A Slip-On Line muffler, which keeps the standard catalytic converter, is more likely to carry a compliance mark than a full system is — but that's a pattern we observed on two products, not a rule, and it isn't ours to promise on your behalf. Check the listing for its own marking, or ask the parts desk to check it before you order.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThat marking is not the same thing as passing an MOT. The current UK MOT check on a motorcycle exhaust is a noise-reasonableness judgement made by the tester on the day — whether the bike sounds unreasonably loud next to a standard silencer in similar condition — and it does not involve checking for a type-approval label at all. A marked system is evidence you are within emissions and construction-and-use law; it is not a guarantee against a tester's ear on the day, and an unmarked can that happens to be quiet is not automatically a fail either.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch2\u003eWill it fit my bike?\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOf the 1,066 Akrapovic products live here, the single largest group isn't tied to any one marque at all — 256 are listed as universal fit. The rest split across Yamaha (213), BMW (200), Kawasaki (139), Honda (134), Suzuki (64), Aprilia (45), Ducati (35), Triumph (31) and Vespa (21), with smaller runs covering CFMoto, Moto Guzzi, Piaggio and several more. Every one of those products carries its own fitment tag, so the filter genuinely narrows to what bolts to your bike rather than to anything carrying the Akrapovic name. A few slip-on fitments work the other way, with a pre-muffler or mid-pipe section sold apart from the end can.
