ICON Motosports, designed in Portland, Oregon

ICON was founded in 2002, and its gear is designed and developed in Portland, Oregon. ICON says it was "created to address the modern performance rider". The company behind the brand is LeMans Corporation, which ICON's own terms name as "LEMANS CORPORATION (D/B/A ICON MOTORSPORT)". ICON's FAQ says it "does not sell any products directly online" and encourages buyers to support their local dealer.

Jackets, trousers and gloves

Jackets are the biggest part of our ICON motorcycle clothing, in textile, mesh, leather, canvas and flannel. Families on ICON jackets and vests include Overlord, Airform, Hooligan, Mesh AF, Contra 3, Upstate, PDX3, Fallblock, Merc3, Slabtown and Tuscadero.

ICON sizes a jacket by chest and sleeve, and its chart puts an EU size next to each letter size. The chart also asks you to check a third thing, the fit type: Attack, Sport or Relaxed. ICON's description of the Overlord 3 opens "Sport Fit: Designed for comfort in an aggressive riding stance…". The Airform is its "Hyper-Casual" jacket, and ICON's line is "Relaxed fit and stowable hood allow for crossover riding & casual use".

Where ICON states a standard for a jacket, the listing's certification row gives it. The string varies. The Overlord 3 and Mesh AF jackets say Class A, the Slabtown jackets and the Contra 3 Rizz Rizz leather say Class AA, and the Upstate string has no class letter. Some listings give none. Check the row on the jacket you want.

There are women's versions of the jackets, gloves, trousers and boots. The ICON trousers and jeans go from PDX3 over trousers to Slabtown, Uparmor and Tuscadero denim. ICON sizes trousers by waist and inside leg, and the women's denim is listed in US sizes. The ICON gloves include Hooligan, Anthem and Superduty 3, and ICON lists "Touchscreen Enabled: Touchscreen-enabled fingers work for a majority of devices" on the Hooligan gloves. ICON measures glove size around the palm at its widest point, a little below the knuckles.

ICON boots, and what size to order

ICON boots are listed in US sizes. ICON's footwear chart converts them to UK and EU sizes, copied here: men's first, then women's.

ICON lists "Functional Reinforcement: D3O ankle inserts & shifter overlays" on the Carga, Dog Days, Hooligan AF, Overlord Vented, Patrol 3, Stormhawk and Upstate boots. Where ICON states a standard for a boot, the listing's certification row gives it. The level string is not the same on every boot. Some listings give none.

D3O armour and Field Armor

The ICON D3O and Field Armor protection is mostly separate D3O inserts for the shoulder, elbow, knee, hip, chest and back, including LP1, LP2, T5 Evo, Ghost and Diablo inserts and the Viper back protectors. Field Armor covers vests, compression tops, trousers and arm sleeves, and knee protectors. Where ICON states a standard, the listing's certification row gives it: "EN 1621-1:2012, Level 1, T-, T+" on the LP1 Field elbow, hip and knee armour, for example, and "EN 1621-3:2018" on the Ghost chest protector. Some listings give none.

ICON's feature lists also name the D3O protectors in its jackets. The Overlord 3 lists "D3O Viper: Level 1 back impact protector". The Hooligan CE and Mesh AF jackets list "D3O T5 EVO: Level 1 shoulder & elbow impact protectors", the Upstate "D3O LP1: Level 1 shoulder & elbow impact protectors" and the Fallblock "D3O Ghost: Level 1 shoulder & elbow impact protectors".

If you're buying a Viper back protector on its own, ICON's jacket size chart gives a D3O Viper size for each jacket size. Men's XS to L show M, and XL to 4XL show L. Women's XS to M show S, and L to 3XL show M. Use the chart that matches your jacket.

Visors and spares for ICON helmets

Most ICON visors and helmet spares are titled with the ICON helmet they are for: Airflite, Ultraflite, Airform, Threshold, Domain or Airframe Pro. A few name other ICON helmets, such as the Variant Pro, the Alliance GT and the Airmada. Check the helmet name in the title, and any standard the listing states, before you order.

Warranty, and buying through a dealer

ICON warrants all of its products for 1 year from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship. A claim goes back to the dealer the product was bought from, with the original sales receipt. The dealer then helps return it to ICON's distributor, which ICON names as Parts Unlimited, Parts Canada or Parts Europe. For ICON gear bought from us, that dealer is Iron City Motorcycles, an official ICON stockist.

ICON motorcycle helmets

The helmets for sale here come in six of ICON's lines: Airform, Airflite, Airframe Pro, Ultraflite, Threshold and Domain. ICON names a helmet by its line and then its design, so the Airflite Tiger's Blood is an Airflite with the Tiger's Blood graphic. Some of those design names turn up on the clothing as well. Tiger's Blood is also a Hooligan jacket and a jersey, and Slabtown is a Domain helmet as well as jackets and jeans. Check the line name in the title. The ICON helmets page lists every helmet in all six lines.
