Motorcycle Fork Cartridge Kits
A fork cartridge kit replaces the damping internals inside a motorcycle front fork. Öhlins sells its NIX cartridges as kits to upgrade standard forks, and Progressive Suspension says its monotube kit replaces all of the original fork internals. How a cartridge kit fits
Öhlins describes a conventional telescopic fork as inner and outer tubes with the springs and damping mechanisms housed inside. A cartridge kit replaces that damping. Öhlins says its NIX 30 Street kit fits bolt-on in the standard fork legs, with compression and rebound damping separated in each leg and preload adjustment, all set from the top caps. Öhlins says its NIX technology was developed from high-level racing such as World Superbike.

The Öhlins fork cartridge kits page carries NIX 30 and NIX 22 FKS Street kits, NIX 30 Hypersport kits, FKR, FKC and FDK kits, and FCX kits for off-road bikes. The Progressive Suspension monotube kits here are for Harley-Davidson Softail, Sportster and Touring models and the Honda GL 1800. Progressive says its kit pairs gas-charged monotube damper cartridges with custom-tuned fork springs.
The YSS Fork Upgrade Kits here are for bikes including the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, Yamaha MT-07, Kawasaki Ninja 650 and Honda CB 500 X. YSS describes its Fork Upgrade Kit as a PD Valve plus spring kit, and lists the contents as front fork springs, a PD Valve, a fork cap and model-specific fork oil. Are springs included?
Not always. Öhlins says its NIX 30 Street cartridge kits are delivered without springs, so the springs are ordered separately at the rate you choose. Progressive Suspension says its monotube kit comes with a set of fork springs. YSS lists front fork springs among the contents of its Fork Upgrade Kit. Check the listing for what is in the box.
